Introduction

NAKO Safari Lodge offers guests a 5 Star, Big 5 safari getaway only 1 hour’s drive from Johannesburg and OR Tambo International Airport, and a 30 minute drive from Pretoria in the Gauteng province of South Africa.. This exclusive retreat is situated in the Pride of Africa Nature Reserve that makes up part of the Big 5 Dinokeng Game Reserve and is easily accessed by road, daily shuttle flights, private charter flights or helicopter.

The name “NAKO” is derived from the Tswana word for “time”- a precious commodity in today’s fast-paced world, and NAKO Safari Lodge offers the perfect environment in which to spend quality time with family and friends in the magnificent African bushveld.

This luxurious multi-story, thatched lodge overlooks a waterhole, and guests can relax in the spacious main lodge area which offers comfortable seating in front of the fireplace or TV; a photographic studio loft; and an indoor dining area. The main lodge opens onto a spacious, covered patio with an outdoor dining area and rooftop bar overlooking the rim- flow, heated swimming pool and sun loungers, and from here guests can enjoy the stunning bushveld scenery and view the game coming down to drink at the waterhole. As the sun goes down, guests can relax around the firepit under the stars, and listen to the night sounds of the African wilderness.

NAKO Safari Lodge offers accommodation in 5 beautifully appointed, modern family- friendly suites, and the lodge offers plenty to keep the kids entertained. The Safari Kids programme includes exciting activities such as a children’s safari, track and trail, spoor casting with Plaster of Paris, baking and pizza lessons, movie nights, beading lessons, nature walks around camp, and archery. A full games room features a pool table, table tennis table, air hockey and a number of board games awaits. (A childminding service is available by prior arrangement at an additional cost.)

Guests can enjoy scheduled game drives within the Big 5 Dinokeng Game Reserve with highly-qualified guides who share their knowledge and passion for the African wilderness and offer exciting wildlife viewings. For those who prefer to experience the bush on a more intimate level, guided bush walks are a must and promise a fascinating experience. Accommodation

Guest accommodation at NAKO Safari Lodge consists of two luxurious, thatched, one-bedroomed suites sleeping a maximum of two guests each; two exclusive two- bedroomed Family Suites sleeping a maximum of four guests each, and a luxurious, three-bedroomed Family Villa sleeping a maximum of six guests.

The luxurious suites are all air-conditioned and open onto private outdoor decks with a firepit and boma, offering incredible views of the nearby waterhole. The rooms are spacious and beautifully appointed, and feature comfortable King-sized beds (or twin singles) with en-suite bathrooms and outdoor showers. A Nespresso machine; minibar; smart TV (Netflix enabled) and high-speed internet, as well as bathroom amenities, add to guests’ comfort.
